Evelyn Nora (Weinstein) Decker, 93, of Peoria, passed away at 12:45 p.m. on Friday, December 25, 2009, at Bel-Wood Nursing Home in Peoria.
Evelyn was born on March 14, 1916 in Brooklyn, New York, a daughter of Henry and Sarah Weinstein. She married Dr. Sam Decker on March 23, 1941 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2004 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Harold and Emil Weinstein.
She is survived by her son, Leon (Iris) Decker of Peoria; grandson, Dr. Joshua Decker of Evanston; and granddaughter, Amanda (Sean) Decker-Fitts of Woodland Hills, CA.
Evelyn was a homemaker and a member of the Congregation Anshai Emeth and Congregation Agudas Achim.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 27, 2009, at the Peoria Hebrew Cemetery Chapel, with Rabbi Dovid Tiechtel of the Chabad Jewish Center of Champaign-Urbana Community. Interment will be in Peoria Hebrew Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Evelyn’s memory to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, Congregation Agudas Achim, Congregation Anshai Emeth, the Jewish Federation of Peoria or to Lubavitch Chabad of Peoria.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 428 West McClure Avenue, in Peoria.
